Winner of the Cannes Palme d’Or, FJORD follows a Norwegian woman (Academy Award® nominee Renate Reinsve) and her devout Romanian husband (Academy Award nominee Sebastian Stan) who relocate to a remote, close-knit coastal town with their five children. When simmering unease around their rigid beliefs leads to allegations of abuse, the family is forced to confront a system of judgment that blurs the line between concern and prejudice. Romanian auteur Cristian Mungiu (R.M.N., HIFF 2022) returns with this gripping, insightful, and thought-provoking snapshot of clashing cultures rooted in his signature observant and empathetic gaze. A NEON release.
