Academy Award® nominee Ilker Çatak (THE TEACHER’S LOUNGE, HIFF 2023) returns with the story of actress Derya (Özgü Namal) and playwright Aziz (Tansu Biçer), an outspoken and celebrated artist couple living and working in Turkey who become targets of the right-wing government. As increasingly oppressive measures strip them of their livelihoods, the couple struggles to balance their ideals with life’s necessities, pushing their marriage to a breaking point. Winner of the Golden Bear at the Berlinale, YELLOW LETTERS is a sharp, gripping examination of the personal stakes of artistic expression in the face of authoritarianism.
