We are so proud to be hosting the Plural+ Youth Video Festival Ceremony, co-organized by the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations and the Hamptons International Film Festival, as part of HIFF 34. To support the United Nations, children, and world stories through film is a privilege and an honor. For many years, our partnership with the UN Plural + program has been growing; today, we reach 800 + students annually with short films made by children from around the world. Finding fellow children in places like Brazil, India, Nigeria, France, Peru, Russian Federation, China, Myanmar and dozens of other countries who hold common stories about feeling alone, scared, left out, loving friends, concerned for our planet and the safety of their families, dreaming of playing soccer for a favorite team—our East End students welcome voices from the wider world into their own schools and movie theaters. All are invited to create and submit their stories as well, to share with the world how they view the world while engaging in broad dialogue that comes with the cinematic process. This year, filmmakers, dignitaries and UN reps will join us in East Hampton on Friday, October 9. HIFF will award a filmmaker our recognition for bravery in storytelling. We hope you’ll attend!
