In a futuristic New York known as New Rome, visionary architect Cesar Catilina dreams of building "Megalopolis," a utopian city that redefines society’s limits. Opposing him is the corrupt Mayor Franklyn Cicero, who clings to power and profit. Between them stands Julia, the mayor’s daughter, whose love for Cesar forces her to choose between loyalty, ambition, and the fate of humanity.

With this film, Francis Ford Coppola tries to hold a mirror up to society, as is often attributed to artists. And when you watch the film, that is clear and Coppola has no desire to be subtle. It is a mix of a fable, Greek tragedies, Shakespeare and reality TV that takes place in a mix of modern New York and ancient Rome. The acting performances are of course good,I just really question what kind of directions they were given. One of the most important themes of the film is how you deal with change, and how some people always think they can go against it. The end of the film actually reminds me of the end of Arrival, since here too the makers want to give the optimistic options a chance, while the average viewer often does not think the sky is so beautifully blue.
